Data Scientist
Use VennBoard’s matter, billing, calendar, and communication data to make divorce work measurably better — for the professional, the client, and the family.
Locations: Seattle · San Francisco · Los Angeles · New York · Remote (US) · Compensation: $180k – $240k base + equity · Legal-tech experience not required.
What you’ll do
- Define and instrument the metrics that matter (matter cycle time, courtesy-meter trends, billing realization, lead conversion, retention).
- Build dashboards and self-serve datasets the product team uses to make weekly decisions.
- Run experiments — feature flags, holdouts, A/B — and write up results that are clear enough for non-technical stakeholders.
- Partner with ML on training-data curation and offline evaluation.
What you’ll bring
- Strong SQL, Python, and statistical inference fundamentals.
- Experience with experimentation systems (you can spot a bad A/B test in under five minutes).
- Comfort talking with founders, designers, lawyers, and engineers in the same week.
- Clear, opinionated writing — your one-pagers actually change minds.
Nice to have
- Worked at an early-stage marketplace, fintech, or vertical SaaS.
- Familiarity with causal-inference techniques (DiD, propensity matching, synthetic controls).
- Have built or maintained an analytics warehouse (dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery).
How we work
Small team. Honest feedback. Real ownership from day one. We don’t track hours; we track outcomes. We default to async — meetings only when they make us faster, not slower. We ship every week.
